Various milk sweets in sweet shops quickly attract children with their colour and designs. Starting from my childhood days milk peda is one of my favourite sweets and I was very eager to search for milk peda recipe in cookbooks and tv shows to prepare homemade milk peda. Two years back, I saw this instant milk peda recipe in the living food cookery channel and prepared it for last year's Diwali without any tweaks. It turned out great and we all enjoyed it very much.
For this instant milk peda you will need condensed, milk, milk powder, ghee and cardamom powder.
Condensed milk - you can use milkmaid as I did in this recipe or any other brand tastes good. For this recipe I have used 1/2 tin milkmaid.
Milk powder - do not use unsweetened nonfat milk powder. Use sweetened milk powder like the amulya or everyday brand. Make sure to check the packing date because if you are using two or three-months old milk powder the texture won't be good.
Milk - add 1/4 cup milk to mix the milkmaid and milk powder without any lumps.
Ghee - peda requires just 2 tbsp ghee. For shaping the pedas lightly grease your palm with ghee and then roll them gently.
Flavours - cardamom powder gives a nice flavour for milk sweets. If you want, you can also add a few saffron strands.
