The first step is to grind the samba raw rice flour.This samba raw rice is a medium grain rice which is purple in colour and wider in size. It is common in Tirunelveli and can be used in a variety of dishes like kozhukattai, puttu, sarkkarai pongal and aapam. - 3/4 cup grated coconut

- Take a wide bowl and add the samba raw rice flour. Grate the jaggery finely using a knife and grate the coconut without any brown part. Next, mix them well and add water little by little and prepare the dough.
- Now take small ball and prepare an oval shaped ball and then gently press it in the centre. You can also prepare small diamond shaped balls. Prepare the kozhukattais as shown in the picture.
- Grease the idly plate with oil and place the kozhukattais.Cook the kozhukattais on medium heat for 7 to 9 minutes and turn off the heat.Transfer the kozhukattai to the serving dish and serve it along with a few coconut slices.
