My favourite Green peas masala requires some onion paste, tomato paste and simple ingredients you likely have in your kitchen.
This masala is thick with full of tomato flavour and garamasala powder. In the final stage, a teaspoon of sugar enhances the taste that pairs perfectly with the gravy. I always like to prepare this gravy with dried green peas because I have tried with other varieties of green peas, this one is my favourite. You can enjoy the taste of green peas in every single pea. Green Peas Masala Recipe Details

Green peas masala - Delicious and tasty green peas masala made lighter than other gravies with few ingredients.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup dried green peas
- 2 onions
- 4 tomatoes
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chilly powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 2 tsp garamasala powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 2 tbsp oil
- salt
- Wash and soak the green peas in water for 6 to 8 hours. Then pressure cook for 3 to 5 whistles.Grind the diced onions without any water. Transfer it to a separate bowl. Then grind the chopped tomatoes nicely.
- Heat oil in a pan and add fennel seeds. Saute till it becomes fragrant.
Add the onion paste and saute it continuously till the raw smell of the onion disappears. Then add the tomato paste. Stir the paste very well. After 2 minutes, add the turmeric powder, chilly powder and coriander powder. - When you see oil separates from the gravy, add the cooked green peas and the required salt.. Now add the garamasala powder and sugar. Add 1/4 cup water and bring it to boil till the green peas blended well with the onion tomato paste.
- Finally, add the melted ghee on the top of gravy and remove from flame. Garnish with coriander leaves. Enjoy this tasty masala with roti or dosas.
Green peas masala with step by step photos
Wash and soak the green peas in water for 6 to 8 hours. Then pressure cook for 3 to 5 whistles. If you are using fresh green peas steam the green peas or cook them in a open vessel with plenty of water and drain the water completely.
Grind the diced onions without any water. Transfer it to a separate bowl.
Then grind the chopped tomatoes nicely. No need to any water for grinding.
Heat oil in a pan and add fennel seeds. Saute till it becomes fragrant. Add the onion paste and saute it continuously till the raw smell of the onion disappears.
Then add the tomato paste. Stir the paste very well.
After 2 minutes, add the turmeric powder, chilly powder and coriander powder.
When you see oil separates from the gravy, add the cooked green peas and the required salt.
Now add the garamasala powder and sugar. Add 1/4 cup water and bring it to boil till the green peas blended well with the onion tomato paste.
Finally, add the melted ghee on the top of gravy and remove from flame. Garnish with coriander leaves. Enjoy this tasty masala with roti or dosas.
