Karthigai Pori - Karthigai Vella Pori Recipe

Karthigai Pori - a classic prasadam prepared for karthigai festival. This karthigai pori looks different from the regular rice pori and you can get these pori during karthigai tamil month in pori shops.


They are one my favourite, favourite...... prasadam dishes. This tastes so good on the next day because the jaggery will enter each poris after cooling down. For this karthigai pori dish you will need the nel pori, jaggery, black sesame seeds and coconut. To prepare jaggery syrup, I recommend to use pagu vellam (jaggery) which is dark brown in colour because it gives a nice taste and colour to this dish. You have to dissolve the jaggery with little water and then strain it if needed. Then continue boiling the syrup on low heat, stirring occasionally, until it reaches to a thick consistency. Watch your jaggery syrup closely as it gets thicker or browns quickly. Before preparing the jaggery syrup, add the nelpori in a big container or in a vessel. Add the roasted sesame seed…

Tomato Pasta

Tomato Pasta (Pastas in tomato puree and vegetables)


Do you want to prepare simple homestyle pasta with few available ingredients then try this simple recipe tomato pasta. Impress your kids with this beautiful red pasta. There is no need for any cheese or cream. Just few tomatoes, few veggies and a teaspoon of dried oregano. If you do not have oregano you can substitute with dried kasuri methi leaves.

Tomato Pasta recipe with step by step photos

Cook time : 20 minutes
Total time : 50 minutes
Serves : 2

Ingredients


  • 1.5 cups pasta
  • 5 cups water
  • 6 red ripe tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced carrots
  • 1/4 cup fresh green peas
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlics
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • salt  to taste

Cooking Directions


1. Take a broad vessel and add 5 cups of water. When it starts boiling add a drop of oil and a pinch of salt. Next add the pastas.


2. After 10 minutes add the diced carrots and green peas to it. Mix them evenly and cook them on low flame.


3. When the pastas turn soft switch off the flame and drain the water completely. Allow them to cool.


4. Take a big mixer jar and grind the tomatoes smoothly.


5. Heat 1 tbsp oil and 2 tbsp of butter in a broad kadai and add the finely chopped garlics. Saute it for few seconds. 



6. Next, add the tomato paste. Stir and saute them.


7. When the tomato paste starts thickening add the oregano, salt, sugar and the pepper powder.


8. Next, add the cooked pastas and mix them well until each pastas has coated well in the tomato paste. After 2 minutes, transfer it to the serving bowl.
