One day my son wants me to prepare veg fried rice with briyani flavor.
Using very simple ingredients in my pantry I prepared this colourful fried rice. This simple fried rice is really good for lunch boxes too.
Using very simple ingredients in my pantry I prepared this colourful fried rice. This simple fried rice is really good for lunch boxes too.

Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
- 1/2 cup finely chopped french beans
- 1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
- 2 tsp crushed garlic
- 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp briyani masala powder or garammasala powder
- 2 cloves
- 1/4 tsp mono sodium glutamate
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- salt
- 2 tsp ghee
2. When the rice is cooking chop all the veggies very finely.
3. Heat ghee in a kadai and add the cloves and fry till the oil gets nice fragrant.
4. Add crushed garlic and saute it for a second. If you prefer you can also add grated ginger.
5. Then add chopped onions and saute for 2 minutes. Add chopped beans and saute it for few seconds.Then add all the chopped veggies and keep the flame in high.
6. You have to continuously stir fry the vegetables. When the veggies are half done add the pepper powder, sugar, salt, briyani masala powder or garammasala powder, turmeric powder and mono sodium glutamate.Stir it quickly and continuously.
7. Now add the cooked rice and stir fry till the masala has coated in the rice well. Then transfer to the serving bowl. Garnish with spring onions.
Notes
1. Instead of white pepper powder you can also add black pepper powder.
2. Add garammasala powder just for a flavor. Do not add too much.
3. Always toss the veggies in high flame for Fried Rice. Do not stir fry the rice for longtime.
4. Instead of mono sodium glutamate you can add a tsp of white vinegar or lemon juice.
